Becoming A Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Congregation B’nai Tzedek is a powerful experience that marks the welcoming of a young adult member of our congregational family into our community. This time-honored tradition and rite of passage is celebrated together with the community. A Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a major transformational event in the life of an entire family, including the child, parents, grandparents, siblings and extended family. The preparation, increased focus on Torah and Jewish identity, and the event itself can enrich the family’s Judaism.
This rite of passage offers families a wonderful opportunity to better understand and strengthen their connection with their Jewish heritage as well as with the congregation. For children who have special needs, our congregation does everything possible to ensure that any child with special needs will be able to experience a Bar/Bat Mitzvah with joy and pride in their accomplishment. No one is excluded at B’nai Tzedek. We take great satisfaction and pleasure in working together as a community devoted to all our members.
For questions or for a copy of our B'nai Mitzvah Guidelines, please contact the front office at (301) 299-0225.
